Who we are
We are a team of community members and advocates with substantial experience in produce reclamation and distribution. We work with partners to identify underserved communities and the "working poor” — folks who are working hard but are having a hard time making ends meet.
The challenge
Millions of pounds of fruits and vegetables are wasted each year in markets, grocery stores, and farms.
Thousands of households lack consistent access to fresh, nutritious produce, especially in underserved communities.
Traditional food pantries alone cannot meet the scale, convenience, or dignity required to close this gap in fresh produce.
Our solution
Fresh Start bridges surplus and need through an integrated food recovery and distribution system designed for efficiency, scale, and community choice.

We partner with markets, grocers, bakeries, farms, community supported agriculture (CSAs), and peer nonprofits to maximize food recovery and distribution.

Central Collaborative
Operations Hub
We are a founding partner at the Greater Boston Collaborative Food Access Hub at 30 Northampton St, Roxbury, MA. Volunteers help manage recovery coordination, processing, cold/dry storage, and delivery.

Low cost community markets and school sites: Transit-adjacent sites serving commuters with convenient, affordable access. Flexible models that meet families where they are.
